हिंदू धर्म और हिंदी में तलाक का विकल्प नहीं    हिन्दू धर्म में शादी के बाद पति-पत्नी के एक हो जाने के बाद उनके अलग होने का कोई प्रावधान नहीं है। हमारे यहां शादी को ईश्वरीय विधान माना जाता है और पति-पत्नी को विष्णु और लक्ष्मी का रूप। हिंदी में तलाक का कोई विकल्प ही नहीं है। तलाक व डाइवोर्स शब्द हमारे नहीं हैं।  मैं जनसत्ता में नौकरी करता था। एक दिन खबर आई कि एक आदमी ने झगड़े के बाद पत्नी की हत्या कर दी। मैंने हेडिंग लगाई ‘पति ने अपनी बीवी को मार डाला।’ खबर छप गई। किसी को आपत्ति नहीं थी। शाम को घर जाते समय प्रधान संपादक प्रभाष जोशी सीढ़ियों के पास मिल गए। उन्हें नमस्कार किया तो कहने लगे कि संजय जी, पति की बीवी नहीं होती। बीवी तो शौहर की होती है, मियां की होती है। पति की तो पत्नी होती है। हालांकि मैं कहना चाह रहा था कि भाव तो साफ है न। बीवी कहें या पत्नी या वाइफ, सब एक ही है। पर मेरे बोलने से पहले ही उन्होंने कहा कि भाव अपनी जगह है, शब्द अपनी जगह। कुछ शब्द कुछ जगहों के लिए बने ही नहीं होते, ऐसे में शब्दों का घालमेल गड़बड़ी पैदा करता है। तब से मन में यह बात बैठ गई कि शब्द ...

Aryavrata means land of Arya.  And it is indeed Bharatbhumi, India or Hindusthan. Arya means noble, wise, fearless - one who follows Dharma truly, and Dharma here means doing the right thing for humanbeings and every being. Jha have opined that the word ‘Hindu’ was given currency by the Arabs in the 8th century. They however, do not explain the basis of their conclusion nor do they cite any evidence in support of their claim. Even Arab Muslim writers do not make such an extravagant claim. Another theory propounded by European writers is that the word ‘Hindu’ is a Persian corruption of ‘Sindhu’ resulting from the Persian practice of replacing ‘S’ with ‘H’.
